It was Tuesday morning on 9/11/2001. I was heading home from working an overnight shift at a local nursing home in Great Barrington, MA. I had to stop by a coworker’s house to drop something off for them, and I walked in the door, and they had the television on, and I remember it was just before 9am. They said one of the twin towers in New York was on fire. I later learned that it was the North Tower. After we watched for about 10 minutes there was an explosion on the upper floors of the South Tower. It was then that we learned the towers were hit by planes. On my way home I heard on the radio that Flight 77 hit the Pentagon. By the time I got home I saw the South Tower collapse and then the North Tower. Then we got reports that Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania. It is a day I will never forget. 3000 people died that day, and it changed everything in this county. I want to remember those who died that day. I want to lift up our first responders who were running toward the danger in hopes of saving others. I want to remember those families who lost loved ones and those heroes on Flight 93 who saved thousands more lives while sacrificing their own. Today I am taking a moment to remember them, and I will “Never Forget” those we lost on September 11, 2001, twenty-five years ago today.
“If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.” — Sandy Dahl, wife of Flight 93 pilot Jason Dahl.
That is all I have to say about that!
