Dignity: Harold Thornton Hall JR WWII Hero and Original Navy Seal.

On Sunday November 7, 2021 we were able to lay to rest at sea a son, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather, friend, and a WWII Veteran and hero Harold T. Hall Jr. My children fondly knew him as Grandpa Hally. Retired Navy Seals swam his ashes out to sea. It was an emotional but proud moment for our family and the 16 other families who were in attendance for their loved one. I have written about him in several of my post and I have been blessed to know him. Today is not about me. It is about men and women like Grandpa Hally who put their lives on the line to protect our liberties and freedoms. When we honor dignity, it means we must honor those who fought to protect ours. They were people like Harold Hall Jr. And William (Poppy) McCarty who served in the military during WWII.

It is a proud moment but a strange one to enter the WWII section of the Navy Seals Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida and on video you see someone you have known and loved talk about their experience as a Navy UDT (Underwater Demolition Team). He was key to helping find a clear entry point for Allied tanks during the attack on the island of Saipan which was important for the Allied Forces to launch air raids in Japan.  They went in first on what they called flying mattresses and armed only with a knife. During this mission he was injured but they were able to find an opening for amphibious crafts to land and unload tanks. This was a key victory during the war in the Pacific.

All are gone now from Harold Hall’s unit but they leave behind a legacy to carry on their names. Soon we well lose all those who were part of the greatest generation. Their sacrifice has given us so much. I salute you Harold Thornton Hall Jr. And all those who served with you. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten.

Thank you to all who serve and the families who support them so that I have the opportunity to live an extraordinary life.

My Name is Charles Redd and I am a Registered Nurse and I have been committed to Honoring and Elevating Dignity ever since I read to amazing book written by Dr. Donna Hicks called "Leading with Dignity: How to Create a Culture that Brings out the Best in People" It is an excellent book especially if you are looking to change the culture of your team. I have witness this positive change not only in myself but in teams I have led. Back in July of 2020 I coined the phrase "Dignity Friday". I based it on the 10 Essentials of Dignity created by Dr. Hicks. I have share personal stories of my dignity journey and I have received great feedback.
